Worka Chelbesa – Danche, Ethiopia

Washed | Citrus, Apricot, Dark Chocolate, Dried Red Fruit, Nougat

This stellar Grade 1 washed lot comes from the Danche area of Worka Chelbesa, deep in the heart of Yirgacheffe – one of Ethiopia’s most iconic coffee-growing regions. Produced by smallholder farmers and processed at the meticulous wet mill run by Negusse Debela, this coffee is a showcase of high-altitude clarity and complexity.

Grown at 2200 metres above sea level, this lot offers bright citrus and juicy apricot up front, layered with silky chocolate, dried red fruits and nougat sweetness. It’s super clean, elegant and expressive – a perfect choice whether you're brewing filter or dialing in a nuanced espresso.

The cherries, mainly Wolisho and Dega varieties, are handpicked, sorted, and fermented for 72 hours in ceramic tanks to enhance clarity. After washing and a short soak, the coffee is carefully dried for around 10 days on raised beds and then hand-sorted once more to ensure only the finest beans make it through.
